Privacy Policy

Stickly helps you learn vocabulary while you browse. This page explains what we collect, what stays local, and how you can delete your data.

What we collect

Anonymous Firebase account

When you first use Stickly, Firebase may create an anonymous account so we can save your vocabulary and preferences before you sign in.

Account sync

If you later create or link a permanent account, we store its account identifier and, when the sign-in provider supplies them, your name and email address. Your saved words, review progress, preferences, and subscription access can then sync across the devices where you use Stickly.

Browsing and translation

Stickly can run on websites you allow. On those pages, the extension reads page content locally in your browser so it can detect selected text, highlight saved words, and show inline review. When you ask Stickly to translate or save a word, we send that text and the minimum surrounding context needed to process the request and store the result.

Saved data

We store saved vocabulary, translations, optional context sentences, review progress, and your learning preferences in Firebase. If you subscribe, we also store the product and current entitlement status needed to provide and restore Premium access; payment details remain with Apple or our payment provider.

Analytics and product events

Only when you allow optional analytics in the native app settings or cookie settings, we use a pseudonymous installation ID, when available, together with coarse product events to understand how Stickly is used and to keep app and extension events aligned to the same installation. We do not include translated text, answers, page content, or website addresses in these events. Anonymous Firebase accounts are not used as analytics user IDs. If you sign in, some analytics events may be associated with your account.

AI Practice

Guest Practice messages and feedback are sent to our configured AI provider to generate the conversation and feedback. Guest content expires after one hour and is deleted from Stickly within 24 hours unless you choose account continuation. If you continue with an account, the session and review are retained until you reset Practice data or delete your account. Stickly requests that provider responses are not stored for product use, but the provider may retain limited processing data for abuse monitoring under its own policies. “Deleted from Stickly” describes Stickly's storage and does not mean deleted everywhere.

We do not record Practice messages, translations, self-corrections, or feedback text in product analytics or session replay. AI suggestions are candidates for you to evaluate; they do not verify themselves and Practice never changes your spaced-repetition schedule automatically.

Sharing and advertising

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it with unrelated companies for cross-company tracking. Service providers such as Firebase, Apple, and our configured translation or AI processors receive only the data needed to provide their part of Stickly. We require them to protect it to the same or an equivalent standard under their applicable agreements.

Deletion and contact

We retain account data while your account is active. You can delete your account from Stickly settings; deletion removes its data from our product database, while transaction records required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or other legal duties and limited provider backups or security logs may remain for their required retention periods. You can withdraw optional analytics consent at any time in the native app or cookie settings; this stops future collection and resets the native analytics identifier.
